Expertise:Traveling, FOOD!, Trying not to drown under a pile of books, and His promises: "The world and its desires pass away but the man who does the will of God lives forever." 1 John 2:17 <>< Email:email me Member Since:10/22/2002
I was told the other day that someone had stumbled upon my xanga again. My immediate reaction? "Holy cow!" And then the flood of memories started again. I've had this account for a REALLY long time and so I decided to post something for old time's sake.
Since my last significant post, I am now in my third year of law school with graduation and the CA Bar exam looming in the horizon. It's really unbelievable how time flies and all that's happened to me since a year and a half ago. There has been so many life experiences packed into that time from traveling all over the world (literally) to really getting a hang of my legal education. And through out it all, I've been about to see God's hands working amazing things in my life and have been reminded continuously of His faithfulness. I'm so blessed and grateful to have gotten to experience all I have and I look forward to so many more adventures in the future.
Maybe I'll pop back in here once in a while to blog about those escapades. ;)
The first (and apparently hardest) year of law school is done!! :D :D :D I'm soooo happy and excited. Now just two more years to go ;) hahaha I honestly didn't think that it would be such a relief but it is. The only thing I will miss is not having classes with my classmates. After 9 months of seeing each other EVERY day (for 8 hours or so) in EVERY class with ALL the same professors, its hard not to get attached to these people. And when you have such a funny, smart and enthusiastic class as mine, it makes it a lot easier to like them. haha
But since I've been let out of my "jail" (as I like jokingly call it) approximately 40 hours ago, I've: *had tapas and sangria, accompanied by many toasts, with some friends *gone to the beach and enjoyed the crazy heat wave we are currently having in the bay area (90+ degrees...that's 30+ for you celcius folks) *had a massage and then a nice lunch with a beautiful view of San Francisco *gone to a Giants vs. White Sox game
In short, I've had more of a life in the last 40 hours than I've had in the last month. Boy, does it feel good to be alive and not eaten alive.
And in three weeks I'll be off to Europe for 2 WHOLE months!! I'm UNBELIEVABLY excited. So while this post is to share my post-first-year joy, it is also to ask for any tips some of you might have for Europe. I'll be mainly in Geneva, Switzerland and Strasbourg, France for my study abroad program but I have plans to go to Italy, Austria, Germany, and the UK. I'd appreciate any input! Thanks guys and I hope you're enjoying the summer wherever you may be! :D
Once in a while, I get serious. This is one of those moments.
So lately I've been feeling very overwhelmed. It's definitely crunch time with finals around the corner and the climax of our moot court experience is happening this weekend as we present our oral arguments. Looking back, I really can't believe this year is almost over. "What happened to my 1L experience?!?" And the other part of me just really wants to have it done with by tomorrow.
This leads me to my current train of thought.
When I have the time and level-headedness to do so, I'm actually very amazed at where I am at. Very rarely do people our age get do something they enjoy as their profession. True, I'm not close to being a real attorney just yet but the daily experience of finally acquiring knowledge that will be relevant and important to your future is sort of...fulfilling. Strange to say, I know. Afterall, this isn't typical school. But if I were to really tell you how I'm doing (aside from the major stressing out), I would say I'm truly happy with where I am at. I have so many opportunities ahead of me to do the things I've always wanted (i.e. taking International human rights courses in Europe this summer). And I share my day with people I truly like. In fact, a classmate and I were remarking on how our friends at other law schools tell us that they don't really have many people they talk to while at school. We marveled at the fact that we can probably walk up to anyone during our days and strike up a friendly conversation with a fellow lawyer-in-training. That is a HUGE blessing.
And to make this post a bit more interesting, I take a look at these guys:
And I'm grateful that I feel like I'm doing something right with my life too.
Ok, who am I kidding. I just wanted to share my long-nurtured soft spot for WongFu Productions.
All in all, I guess I just wanted to share that I am very happy with this past school year. And I'm truly excited for the next two to come. Here's to being almost 1/3 done! I hope that you guys too are happy with this season of your life.
p.s. To quote: "That's called smog. There's a freaking mountain behind there but you can't see it because there's a blanket of pollution....Don't kid yourselves, that's not fog!" That's how I feel too. Thanks Phil, thanks.
So while procrastinating , I go on YouTube of
course. Lo and behold what do I find? The Backstreet Boys have a
new(ish) album and a new(ish) song: Inconsolable.
Here are my random Backstreet Boys facts: 1. My favorite was Brian. I can hear him on Christian radio sometimes now. hahaha 2. I still know the lyrics to their old songs. I don't think I will ever be able to free my brain of that space. "Quit Playing Games With My Heart...." Dang it, I need that space for other stuff now! 3. The youngest Backstreet Boy (Nick Carter) is 28. That's 2 years from 30. I'm not far behind. That's hecka scary. 4.
I've spent many hours recording their songs on tape from the radio. It
was an art b/c you had to time it perfectly to get the beginning of the
song. I think I still have those somewhere around here... 5. Three of them are married. 6. One day, I'm gonna tell my kids how cool they were and they will laugh in my face. 7. My favorite song is still "As Long As You Love Me." 8. It's sorta strange without Kevin. 9. I think they are now a "manband" instead of a "boyband". Or how about just band? 10.
I've actually never gone to one of their concerts. I think I won
tickets once on Z95.7 but my mom got mad at me for staying up listening
to the radio rather than studying and made me give them up. It was so
sad. 11. Now, I have that song stuck in my head. Great.
One fact for each year they've been making music in the U.S. HAHA. Boy, do I NOT want to do my work. Or sleep for that matter.
